File Prep: Bleeds, Cutlines, Export
This class teaches students how to prepare professional, print-and-cut ready files from start to finish using Adobe Illustrator. Through a structured, hands-on workflow, participants will learn how to create precise cutlines, add bleeds, and apply registration marks for accurate alignment on UV printers and lasers.
Students will follow a guided process to trace artwork, isolate outlines, and assign a “CutContour” spot color recognized by cutting software. The session also covers layout duplication, mark placement, and export best practices for PDF or EPS files, ensuring compatibility across RasterLink, VersaWorks, and laser systems.
By the end of this class, participants will confidently build and export production-ready files with clean cut paths, consistent scaling, and perfect alignment—ready for print, cut, and delivery.
